With a mixture of gymnastics, dance, acrobatics and artistry, sports acrobatics has developed into a unique sport. In contrast to floor or apparatus gymnastics, it is always performed in a team or group. Augsburg has been home to sports acrobatics since 1957, when the Sportakrobatikverein Augsburg Hochzoll was founded. In the almost 70-year history of the club, its acrobats have achieved numerous successes.
The most recent of these: together with coach Sandra Maresch, the women's trio Gloria Baur (19), Sabrina Wilbold (19) and Milla Neumayer (15) are delighted to have been nominated for the World Championships in Guimaraes, Portugal, in September and to be representing Germany there as part of the national team.
In May, the three of them impressed at the 3rd International Augsburg Acro Cup with over 240 participants from Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Dr. Antonio Fernández, CEO of Hosokawa Alpine AG, was also present on the final day to present the successful athletes with their well-deserved medals, trophies and certificates. As sponsor of the club, we wish the young acrobats good luck and success at the next tournaments and, of course, at the World Championships in September!
